Cruel Summer

It’s officially Summer. Unofficially, it’s been summer for a while, at least where I live.

Being out under direct sunlight at noon feels like I’m being baked. For the first time in my life, I bough a 50 SPF lotion. I like being a little tanned and I went to the pool for that but tanning on the street while waiting for the light to turn green is not really my kind of ‘fun under the sun’. Driving is not an option either. I don’t know the city well enough to be driving and, even if I did, being stuck in traffic is horrible. So I’m happy with my kick-ass lotion because it smells nice and it leaves the skin very smooth.

Next on my anti-baking on the streets list was a comfortable/chic outfit. I wanted something light, something that lets the skin breath, an outfit suitable for different activities like shopping and carrying the heavy shopping bags or for a last minute rendez-vous. Those shorts are so cute and they can be dressed up or down. I know I’m going to wear them all summer.

And it’s not summer without bohemian accessories like these fabulous rings I got from Bershka, that bracelet that was a gift from my best friend or the lovely and practical cotton bag.

I’ll leave you now with a song that might become my summer’s soundtrack. Or yours 🙂

  1. Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
    Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
    Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
    And summer’s lease hath all too short a date.
    Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
    And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
    And every fair from fair sometime declines,
    By chance, or nature’s changing course, untrimmed;
    But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
    Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st,
    Nor shall death brag thou wand’rest in his shade,
    When in eternal lines to Time thou grow’st.
    So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
    So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

  2. These shorts look sooo comfortable! Perfect for the heat of summer days. I do wish there wasn’t as much heat as we’re experiencing currently. It’s hard to bear, even in the lightest clothes (and I doubt it would be bearable even in the nude!). That said, you look lovely and graceful in the summer sun! And you are looking so slender nowadays, with your long legs uncovered…! Lovely, lovely you, Alina :).
